And we know that racial justice touches all of us, whether you've been a crime victim, have an incarcerated loved one or you're a taxpayer watching more and more of your money being devoted to corrections and law enforcement, this is your issue.

 

That's why we, in partnership with Kansas City Kansas Community College, are hosting a day of discussion on a variety of topics related to racial justice, including mass incarceration, racial profiling, Kansas' checkered racial history, voting rights, immigration, diversity and representation in power, and more. We need you at the table to help make progress on racial justice.

Over lunch, we'll have a keynote speech on mass incarceration from Wesley Bell, who has been an outspoken advocate of criminal justice reform. Bell's recent victory in the race for St. Louis County prosecutor ousted Robert McCulloch, who held the position for over 25 years and chose not to press charges in the shooting death of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri.

 

 

Event panels will feature experts from academia, the legislature, law enforcement, and advocacy communities who will address.
