In 2023, the ACLU of Kansas launched a 4-year, $10.1 million campaign to build the movement that defending and deepening our democracy demands. We invite you to join with other Kansans in marching toward progress, harnessing the transformational power of the state’s people, and turning the tide for American democracy in the way that only Kansas can.
MAKE A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN GIFT
In order to realize our vision of a free, just, equal, and thriving multiracial democracy, the ACLU of Kansas has adopted a new strategic plan. We aim to maximize the impact, power, and sustainability of the civil liberties movement in Kansas by focusing more than 80% of our resources on two major issue campaigns—voting rights and criminal legal reform—for the next four years. These campaigns, in turn, have highly specific policy objectives that we are determined to achieve.
For both campaigns, we deploy a multitude of inter-related tactics through our signature model of integrated advocacy. Each tactic targets a different lever of power because we know that one, single tactic will never bring about the change that we seek. Only through coordinated and consistent action, backed by the people, will we meaningfully advance civil liberties.
If we are to accomplish our ambitious policy objectives within the next four years, and build the movement that will defend democracy and transform Kansas over the next decade—we require a bigger, stronger, higher-capacity, and more connected ACLU of Kansas. We must do even more than we already are, in new ways, with new partners and new constituencies.
In particular, we have identified the following critical capacity and infrastructure needs which we seek to resource through this four-year capital campaign:
- Activist Network/Civil Liberties Beehive
- Staffing Increase
- Programmatic Resources
To bolster our movement for the next four years and beyond, we are soliciting two-year commitments, four-year commitments, and bequest intentions. Will you consider one of these giving options to meaningfully invest in Kansas’s future?

The ACLU of Kansas is ready to link arms with our fellow Kansans and march on. Together, we can show the nation how real people can work together on common ground to advance fair policies in the interest of equality. Together, we can turn the tide towards democracy in America.
Thank you for considering a capital campaign gift.
