The ACLU of Kansas stands strongly opposed to SB 484. This bill is based on a series of falsehoods leading to erroneous conclusions: in this case, the inclusion of transgender women and girls in sports somehow undermines opportunities for cisgender women and girls.

By imposing a wholesale ban on girls and young women who are transgender participating in athletics consistent with their gender identity, this bill discriminates based on transgender status and sex in violation of the United States Constitution and Title IX of the Civil Rights Act.
