Immigrants detained at the Federal Correctional Institution Leavenworth (FCI) currently face a number of problematic and unlawful conditions, and a significant number of people detained at FCI Leavenworth continue to be held in ICE's custody even though they have won their immigration cases.

New documents obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union reveal that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is actively considering proposals to expand its immigration detention capacity in Kansas as well as California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Washington state.

The Board of Sedgwick County Commissioners is considering asking the Kansas Legislature to repeal the state’s policy granting in-state tuition, regardless of immigration status.
