As the legalization of medical marijuana emerges amidst this troubling backdrop, it is critical that we make every attempt to counter discrimination and promote equitable engagement in our medical marijuana program. Our testimony recommends provisions that impact Kansans and Kansas communities.

The ACLU of Kansas stands vehemently opposed to HB 2717. This bill was introduced with the specific purpose of undermining the implementation of a recent local government ordinance, the Safe and Welcoming Wyandotte Act.

No person should lose their job or be sent home from school for how they wear their hair. Hair discrimination clearly has no basis in job or academic performance. We strongly urge the passage of SB 130 favorably out of committee.

The ACLU of Kansas stands strongly opposed to SB 484. This bill is based on a series of falsehoods leading to erroneous conclusions: in this case, the inclusion of transgender women and girls in sports somehow undermines opportunities for cisgender women and girls.
