Rallying for Language Access

Johnson County residents are making it clear they want language access—that is, for voting materials to be provided in Spanish in addition to English for non-native speakers. Not only are they signing petitions and emailing officials to make their voice heard, but this summer they rallied ahead of Independence Day to make it clear why Johnson County needs language access. This months episode features the audio from those who spoke at this rally—and offers an easy way for you to get in on the action.

Advocating with the Legislature

The 2025 Legislative Session is in full swing. Already we have seen bills make their way through the process to potentially being made law. Some we support, such as HB 2197 eliminating fines and fees in our juvenile court system, and some we detest, such as SB 63 which bans gender-affirming healthcare for minors, which passed after a hasty veto override. There’s still a lot of session left, and we want you to be empowered to get involved. We’re joined in this episode by advocates from Loud Light and Equality Kansas as they share what you need to know to make your voice heard this legislative session as we fight against mail-in voting restrictions, a proposed power grab for selecting judges, and more.
