The Reno County Democrats welcomed guest speaker Dr. Micah Kubic, Executive Director for the ACLU of Kansas, at the Shears Technology Center for the party’s regular meeting Wednesday evening on the Hutchinson Community College campus.

The presentation was focused on the ACLU's most important topics as Kansas enters a major election year. The three points of emphasis discussed were the issues of voting rights, citizens with felonies returning to public life and reproductive rights.

Kubic shared how voting rights are at the top of concerns, in Kansas, as they have faced greater challenges in past years.

“Every day there are new attacks on voting rights in this country and Kansas is no exception,” Kubic stated. “Democracy is not just about voting rights. Democracy is the idea that everyone matters.”
