Micah Kubic, Executive Director of the Kansas ACLU, and others talked about the climate of fear in the country with a president and a candidate for Governor of Kansas who want to criminalize refugees and asylees and send their agents into our communities.

“ID is really critical to the way we go about our daily lives,” said Micah Kubic, Executive Director of the ACLU of Kansas.

Micah Kubic, director of the ACLU of Kansas, said same-day voter registration could solve the need for many provisional ballots, along with expanding early voting. He also said same-day registration is likely to boost voter turnout.

Democracy demands participation, and the more engaged our citizenry, the healthier our civic culture will be. But with wide swaths of our friends and neighbors unable to participate, the health of that culture is at stake.

“There certainly were problems, including with the voting machines and things like that, but I have no reason to believe that there was orchestrated, or even unorchestrated, mischief,” said Micah Kubic, executive director of the ACLU of Kansas.

ACLU attorney Dale Ho said in an email: “It’s unfortunate, but fees like this are part of the price when you break the law.” “Once again, Kansas taxpayers are left holding the bag for Secretary Kobach’s misdeeds.”

Kansas ACLU’s Legal Director Lauren Bond described potential issues the hotline could be used for.
