KANSAS — A high volume of early voting in Kansas has also meant a high volume of calls to Election Protection at 866-OUR-VOTE, the nonpartisan, voter assistance hotline administered by the ACLU of Kansas and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
Voters have taken advantage of calling and can also text the hotline. So far, many issues have been resolved with the individual voter, with a few requiring some coordination with respective county election officials.
“Voters should know: we’ve got your back,” said Laura O’Reilly, senior staff attorney for the ACLU of Kansas. “Voters are more than welcome to communicate with us about any questions, concerns, or issues, however small or big. We are here to help, along with our volunteers, and we remain ready to continue working with election officials through Election Day and its aftermath in an especially noisy election season.”
Alongside recent news that the Justice Department’s largest-ever monitoring program will include monitors in Sedgwick, Wyandotte, and Johnson Counties and community concerns about Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at the polls on Election Day, the ACLU of Kansas will also will deploy about 250 trained volunteer poll observers to act as liaisons on site across the state. A large portion of the current volunteers also served in the 2026 primary election or in past elections.
