Karen Casebolt joined the ACLU of Kansas in June of 2015 as Development Director, but started her fund development career at the ACLU of Illinois more than 15 years ago.
She was hired there as Development Assistant in 1997, administering the database and assisting in all aspects of development including major gifts, gift planning, event management, and foundation and member relations. She was later promoted to Membership Director and Major Gifts Officer and oversaw the recruitment and retention of 13,000 statewide members and managed a $500,000 major gifts campaign. She left the ACLU in 2004 to devote her development skills to her other love, not-for-profit music organizations, and began consulting for the Northshore Concert Band of Chicago.
After a move to Kansas City in 2006, she expanded her business and began providing bookkeeping and financial management services to for-profit clients as well. When the opportunity at the ACLU of Kansas arose, she jumped, and is thrilled to be back with the ACLU.
Karen received a Bachelor of Arts with honors from Northwestern University, where she studied linguistics and music.
